You’re using Author Central right? You know, the page where you can claim all your books; that allows your raving fans to click on your author name when they’re checking out your book on Amazon — which then takes them to your ‘author page’ where they can stalk you… 😉
The bottom line is, if you’re selling your books on Amazon, then you need to set up your Amazon Author Central profile now. If you don’t, do you know what happens? Nothing. Nada. Zilch.
Your name is not clickable, which means, a reader can’t find out more about you and more importantly, more about your books!
Major fail…
Here’s what I’m talking about:
Ok, now that you understand how important it is to have your Author Central profile set up, so that your readers can find out more about you, follow you and grab all your books all from the one spot, it’s time to talk about what you should be including in your Author Central profile page to make it awesome.
In the video below, I’m going to take you through how to claim your Author Central profile if you haven’t already, and then how to make sure it’s set up in the best way, including optimizing each book that you have.
As a reminder, to access the video below, you need to be a MEMBER of Author Basics. Membership is free, so go ahead and join if you haven’t. If you are a member, then you’ll need to be logged in to see the video below 🙂
Making Your Author Central Profile Awesome
Before we jump into the video, here’s a the cliff notes version for those of you who like to figure things out for yourself:
- Visit https://authorcentral.amazon.com and signup with your details. You can have up to three pen names per Author Central account
- Once you confirm your email, you’ll then be prompted to add your books. Go ahead and add all of them now.
- Add your author image, your author bio and then connect your blog here as well
- If you have videos on YouTube (think book trailers) then add them here too. Unfortunately, you can’t upload videos direct, so they need to be on YouTube
- For each book, click on each title and add editorial reviews and testimonials in the appropriate spot
Ok, now let’s dig into the video portion of our program…

Right, your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to either claim your own Author Central profile or go in and update it as per the video. Failure to implement these strategies could lead to missed reader opportunities.
